On the first Thursday, we get together and write first drafts. Each participant has the option to read excerpts from her or his draft. A writer may ask for and receive supportive discussion. We send revisions to each other and return comment.
On the third Thursday, our completed work is read aloud. The author reads her own work. By request of the writer, other members may perform this function. Our group follows feedback protocols that encourage creative thinking and self-reflective insight. We think that positive and negative criticism stimulate significant expansions of a writer's skills. Another essential value is in a writer's discovery of the specific impressions his or her work makes on various audience members.
Strict confidentiality agreements build secure foundations for relaxed interaction and discussion.
